Before we start it’s important that you don’t confuse erectile dysfunction (when you find it very difficult to have an erection and your erections are very weak) with a slightly soft but still erect penis during long periods of intercourse (15 min-3 hours) when your penis takes breaks (which is normal and necessary), this is the slightly soft stage we’re talking about. They are two different things. This article is to help men who have difficulty getting erections to start with and have very weak soft erections.

0. Things You MUST Understand Before Reading.

When you have an erection, blood flows in through the center of the penis and inflates and stiffens the spongy cells inside. Too much blood at a high pressure for too long can damage these cells so your penis is designed to let out extra blood through veins on the outside of the penis without loosing its erection completely. It’s important that you avoid using cock-rings, penis-pumps, or any other devices that artificially force the penis to be erect and not allow blood to flow out.

Do understand that even during sex the penis goes through multiple stages of an erection (rock hard, hard, soft/hard during breaks), you can’t and are not suppose to be rock hard constantly for 30 min straight. The perfect erection is one where the inside core and length of the penis is fully erect ( resulting in the penis pointing as straight up into the air as possible, in the 12, 1, or 2 o’clock position) regardless of weather the head of the penis is inflated or slightly soft. Also during sex, depending on the movements, your penis might go a little soft to enable better motion so that it bends slightly without damage yet without going soft or loosing its erection.

MANY men have claimed that doing Kegel exercises, (exercises to strengthen the PC Muscle) help them achieve longer and fuller erections. Currently there are people that are claiming this is a temporary fix and that men engaging in these “Penis Exercises” are doing more damage in the long run than good by over using the PC Muscles. We’re working with a doctor on an upcoming article on this very issue. Currently, there’s nothing wrong with using the PC Muscles naturally but for now just remember, erection problems happen when blood is NOT flowing into the penis at a fast or steady enough rate, erectile dysfunction isn’t about a weak pelvic floor / PC Muscles.

1. Wear Loose Clothing at Night and Ride Out Morning Erections

During the night as you sleep your penis goes through several erections that act as “maintenance” to the spongy cells inside. Many times when you wake up in the morning you’ll find yourself in the middle of those erections, called “Morning Wood”, and find it difficult to go soft. It’s important that you realize the MORE erections you get the healthier and harder your future erections will be.

This means during the night you should make erections as easy as possible by wearing loose boxers and avoiding any tight or constrictive underwear. When you wake up in the morning, ride the erection out and let it last as long as you can. Do not masturbate to make it go away.

2. Change Your Diet

Your diet has a lot to do with your erections because your erections have a lot to do with your blood circulation, blood thickness, and testosterone levels. All of which can be increased through eating the right foods. Consider adding the following to your regular diet.

- Blueberries, Garlic, Spinach, Oysters, Bananas, Cherries, Berries, Peaches. Especially Blueberries, Garlic, and Spinach which have been shown to help specifically with erections. Overall fruits and veggies are great for you anyway. If you find it too inconvenient to buy fruits and prepare them just buy them in a bag, frozen and already cut up.

- Mixed nuts (especially peanuts) are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (good fats). They’ve been found to be a necessary building block for testosterone production in the testes. Also studies have shown that men who eat nuts at night before bed have some of the highest testosterone levels.

- Red Wine is good for thinning the blood and helping with circulation.

3. Talk to Your Doctor About Alternatives to Your Prescription Drugs

You can’t get an erection out of thin air, you have to be aroused first and guess what… Many of today’s most prescribed medications cause sexual side effects such as decreased sex drive. Now consider this, Americans take more prescription medications than any other country. Medco Health Solutions Inc reports 51% of American children and adults are taking one or more prescription drugs regularly.

You know we’re over-drugged when 18% of the population of Utah is on anti-depressants and over 13% of Michigan’s population are on medications that lower cholesterol (USA Today) two things that can be combated with more exercise, a healthier diet, higher amounts of sunlight, and meditation techniques. Popping unnecessary pills all your life isn’t going to solve your problems, so ask your doctor about which of your medications you can replace with natural alternatives. Your sex life and your penis will thank you for it.

4. Improve Your Blood Circulation.

Bad blood circulation is an erection killer, so it’s time to stop putting it off and finally start exercising. I’m not asking you to get a gym membership (which usually never works for most people because of its inconvenience). Make it a habit to exercise, go for a jog, lift some weights, go up and down your stairs. Remembering to exercise is difficult because it hasn’t become a habit for you yet. Remember, start small and go from there. Even if it’s only once a day, when you get into the habit of remembering to take care of your body it slowly becomes instinct and you’ll be able to increase the amount and quality of your exercises later.

Also if you’re the type that eats only 1 or 2 meals a day you may want to change that. You’ll want to eat 5 or 6 smaller meals a day to improve your metabolism, digestive system, and blood flow. Drink small amounts of red wine each day to increase blood circulation if you’re the type that gets easily tired, cold, or have trouble warming up.

5. Reduce Stress, & Get a Good Night’s Sleep.

Remember the old saying “walk it off”? It really does work. As stupid and useless as it sounds, men need to stop putting off their daily neighborhood walk. When you go out to eat or shop for groceries, don’t park right in front of the store. Save yourself some gas and the environment by parking at the nearest available spot and walking to the entrance. Use a shopping cart? Walk it back to the store rather than leaving it in the middle of the parking lot.

Have trouble sleeping? Take a walk at night, although not right before bed. Avoid lights, computer monitors, TVs, and if you wake up feeling sluggish in the morning it’s because you haven’t been getting good quality sleep. Avoid sleeping with pets, turn off any electronics (PHONE CHARGERS) in the room, and try wearing earplugs. You can get about 2 dozen earplugs from Walmart for about $3-$4. Get the soft kind. With earplugs you’ll be able to fall asleep and stay asleep because your brain won’t wake up due to noises outside, the a/c turning on and off, and others in your home walking around or flushing the toilet.

If you still aren’t getting the sleep you should you might want to consider adding more sun to your daily routine. I’m not asking you to lay out in the sun and get skin cancer but medical experts agree that people who don’t get enough sunlight are more depressed, unsocial, and have more sleeping problems than those who do get their daily dose of sunlight.

6. Get into the Habit of Enjoying Your Erections and Have More of Them

We mention spontaneous erections in our reviews all the time, and for good reason. Erections are the most important exercise for maintaining penis health and preventing erectile dysfunction. What happens when you tell yourself “oh great, not now, go soft, go soft!” for years or even decades? You condition your brain into thinking that erections are bad.  If every time you have one you get embarrassed and think negative thoughts the next time you WANT an erection you won’t be able to get one as easily. So get into the habit of enjoying your erections and try not to cut them short. In your office, on the way to work, and even while at a restaurant are great places to have erections and ride them out. Learn how to hide them and enjoy them to their fullest extent. Remember, erections are vital to the health of your penis. The blood that fills the penis brings with it vital nutrients that keep its cells healthy.

Also, simply having an erection increases your circulating testosterone significantly. So by all means, when you feel an erection coming on, don’t try to prevent it, encourage it, and enjoy it as long as you can.

8. Don’t Masturbate Excessively

Masturbation is normal and healthy but when over practiced and addicted to it can lead to temporary chemical changes in the body. Every time you masturbate and orgasm your body uses and is affected by multiple chemicals and hormones. Don’t get me wrong, masturbation has numerous health benefits but an extreme amount of anything is bad. Over stimulation can temporarily deplete and lessen the effects of your body’s hormones, pleasure receptors, and after time you may have trouble achieving a full erection because you don’t have the hormones or the drive for it. Sexual exhaustion is nothing serious nor permanent and just requires a few days of abstinence until your body produces the depleted hormones required for a normal sex drive and erections. Sometimes men have the mental drive for sex but due to their lifestyles, stress, cholesterol levels, and blood circulation cannot achieve an erection. Other times, healthy men who are capable of having strong erections cannot because they don’t have the hormones or sex drive necessary for full arousal.

Be warned, many of the websites that show up on Google while searching for “over masturbation” and “sexual exhaustion” are from an article originating to “” a site that convinces men they need to buy their herbal medicines to cure sexual exhaustion by overwhelming the reader with medical terms and claiming to have been written by a doctor. Right……………………..

    I do think this is a genuine review. I cannot stress enough how important spinach is for health. I am a software engineer and my eyes and body are stressed a lot and as soon as soon as I have a small meal of spinach , I feel fresh as never before. Yeah sounds like Popeyee , but yes it works like a charm for me ! . And yeah I find that abstinence and resting can get

  4. It’s pretty awesome having nutrition as my life. I always tell people when they ask me what kind of supplements to take. Start with the basics and get some protein as a body building supplement then if you want, try an EFA stack for weight loss. As always throw in a multivitamin.
